THE BETTER MINISTRY OF CHRIST

The New Testament tells us that Jesus is our intercessor, our mediator, our Saviour and King. But only the book of Hebrews tells us that he is our priest. Priesthood is the purpose for which Jesus was made human (2:17); his priesthood is the reason we should hold fast to our faith (4:14); and the proof that the old covenant has been set aside (7:12).

Jesus ministry is better than the old covenant priesthood ministry of Moses time.  He supersedes the old covenant, replacing it with a better covenant and ministry. (7:22).

1. A BETTER PRIEST

The Heavenly Sanctuary - Hebrews 9:11

”But Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.”

a. A better Priest than the priesthood during Moses time. A priest ordained by God. The priest of the Most High God in the order of Melchizedek.

This priesthood offer complete sacrifice and salvation to mankind. We don’t go through all the ceremonial laws in the O. T. tabernacle required by Moses Levitical  priesthood.

b. Jesus came and replaced the Priesthood of Aaron and the Levites.  The higher priesthood with more good things to come and offer us more perfect tabernacle made in heaven.  When we come to Church we come to a place only – but our true Tabernacle is in Heaven not of this creation.

c. Our High Priest is Jesus not of this world and our ministry is in the order of Melchizedek not the Leviticus order.  The Melchizedek ministry is from the Throne room of God.  We minister from the Throne room of God and gives life to the world around us.

2. A BETTER SANCTUARY – Hebrew 9:11

“… more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.”

The Tabernacle of Moses priesthood and sanctuary had to be erected by human hands.  Whenever the clouds or fire of God moved they will picked up their tents and tabernacles and moved following the signs and wonders of God.

Because our tabernacle is in heaven – we have to look up to Jesus for He will leads us and directs us from now on as believers. God will lead us by the Holy Spirit.  In heaven there is where all Provisions are, all Healings are, all Glory are, all power are, all blessings are and all our Inheritance are. Looking to Jesus the Author and Finisher of our Faith and Ministry.

 3.  A BETTER SACRIFICE - Hebrews 9:12

Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.”

 a. The sacrifice were not with animals blood but with His own Holy Blood – He enter the Most Holy Place once for all. He enters only ONCE

for all the people of the world.   The sacrifice of Moses time all their sacrifices are for the Jews only at that time. It is limited only but today Jesus sacrifice is eternal and to eternality.  He did it for all races, Gentiles and Non Gentiles, black and white, rich and poor.

 b. The blood of animals cannot forgive sin but covers only.  Jesus blood forgives all our sin past, future and present and cleansed our sins completely.  We don’t have to come year by year to God for atonement for our sins now.  Jesus with One Sacrifice enter the Most Holy Place Once for all  the people of the world to obtained eternal redemption for sinners.

 c. Christ sacrifice fulfil the purpose by bring mankind into God’s presence.  It is permanent. There is only One Priest ie. Jesus Christ lives forever and able to save completely and to intercede for us eternally.

So we have a better Priest, better Sanctuary and a better Sacrifice.

4. A BETTER BLESSING - Hebrews 9:12

“having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

When Jesus died on the Cross he shed his blood.  He was slain at the Cross.  In Rev. 5:12 says Jesus was slain to receive Power, Riches, Wisdom, Strength, Honor, Glory and Blessings.  He received the blessings back for the Church not only eternal redemption but all the Spiritual and material blessings in Christ.  We are so blessed in Christ.

He took our curse and exchanges His blessings to us. He took our pain and sickness in exchange for our health and healing.  He took our sin in exchange for righteousness. He took our weakness in exchange for strength.  He took our poverty in exchange for riches.  He exchanges all that initially belongs to mankind during Adam’s time.

So do not neglect our great salvation that we have in Christ a Priest that loves us and gave His life for us.  Jesus is in heaven making supplication and intercession for us the Church.
