YOUR MIRACLE IS IN YOUR HOUSE
(1) WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN THE HOUSE? FIND OUT WHAT IS IN THE HOUSE (i) JESUS FIVE LOAVES AND TWO FISHES. Your miracle is at hand. God’s miracle is not only healing and deliverance. In includes God’s protection, provision or direction.Jesus took 5 loaves 2 fishes to multiply for the multitudes (John 6:1-14) He used what they have, the little boys lunch. God may say something to you like “how many fishes and loaves do you have?” Something you have, may be the basis of miracles.
YOUR MIRACLE IS IN YOUR HOUSE: (1) WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN THE HOUSE? (ii) ELISHA AND THE WIDOW’S OIL– 2 Kings 4:1-3 A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.” 2 So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”3 Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few.”
YOUR MIRACLE IS IN YOUR HOUSE: (2) FAITH LEADS US TO DO SOMETHING. 2 Kings 4:3 3 Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few.” THE CREDITOR IS COMING TO TAKE MY TWO SONS TO BE HIS SLAVES: This woman, the widowed wife of one of the sons of the prophets, had debts and no means to pay them. The legal system in Israel would not allow her to declare bankruptcy; she had to give her sons as indentured servants to her creditor as payment for the debts. TAKE SOME ACTION: GO OUT AND BORROW VESSELS – NOT ONE BUT MANY.
YOUR MIRACLE IS IN YOUR HOUSE: (2) FAITH LEADS US TO DO SOMETHING. 2 Kings 4:2 She said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.” DON’T BE BLINDED BY NEGATIVISM BUT BE POSITIVE. The widow started out in the negative “nothing” but a jar of oil (rep. Holy Spirit) When you look to the God of possibilities you suddenly pass from the natural to the supernatural. Its easy to say “I have nothing” but its takes faith to go on and say “but a jar of oil” – “YES I HAVE A JAR OF OIL” - one small possibility. WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HAND?YOUR MIRACLE IS IN YOUR HOUSE: (2) FAITH IS DOING SOMETHING. 2 Kings 4:4-7 4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”
5 So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. 6 Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased. 7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.”
A MIRACLE IN YOUR HAND: (4) POUR UNTIL THERE IS NO MORE –MORE VESSELS MORE OIL. 2 Kings 4:4 4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.” THE ORIGINAL VESSEL OF OIL – THE ONE THE WOMAN HAD IN HER HOUSE – WAS A SMALLER VESSEL THAT HELD ONLY OIL FOR ANOINTING. POUR IT INTO ALL THOSE VESSELS, AND SET ASIDE THE FULL ONES: Elisha told the woman to take what she had – one jar of oil (all that she had) – and to pour that out in faith into the borrowed vessels. POUR ALL YOUR EFFORT INTO YOUR MINISTRY & DUTY TO GOD & OTHERS UNTIL IT IS FULL.
A MIRACLE IN YOUR HAND: (4) POUR UNTIL THERE IS NO MORE –MORE VESSELS MORE OIL. As she did this the oil miraculously kept pouring from the original vessel until all the borrowed vessels were filled. At the end of it, she had a lot of oil. This means that the distribution of the oil into the other vessels REQUIRED CONSTANT POURING AND ALLOWING THE OIL TO SUPERNATURALLY FILL THE SMALL VESSEL AGAIN. THE VESSELS ALSO HAD TO BE EMPTY BEFORE THEY COULD BE FILLED WITH OIL. It did no good to bring the widow full vessels. “A full Christ is for empty sinners, a man full of himself cannot accept Christ until the man empties himself”
2. DO NOT LIMIT GOD!(1) DON’T PUT LIMITATIONS ON GOD’S ABILITY TO PROVIDE. “What’s that silly widow woman going to do with all of those pots?” Her neighbors must have said. “She’s finally lost her mind” She did whatever the man of God told her. 2 Kings 4:4 4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.” SHUT THE DOOR OF DOUBT . DON’T LET ANY BODY COME IN YOUR HOUSE AND DISCOURAGE YOU. People will say, “You are crazy – we have done this before it never works.” Pour the oil you have into the borrowed vessels until there is no more vessels.
MAY THE LORD BLESS YOU WITH GREAT AND MIGHTY MIRACLES AS YOUR TRUST HIM IN ALL YOUR WAYS.
