SEEING WITH THE SPIRIT

A.   Our spiritual eye is the eye of spiritual understanding (Ephesians 1:18.)

New King James Version (NKJV)

18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,…”

Your inner eyes could see where no one sees.   God is the one who opens your spiritual eyes to see.  You understand and appreciate your spiritual calling, inheritance and power with your spiritual eyes and not with your natural mind.

 Acts. 26:18

18 To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

With your spiritual eyes, you can see beyond the natural realm.

Moses saw God with his spiritual eyes (Hebrews 11:24-27)

24 By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; 25 Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;

26 Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompense of the reward.

27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.

1.    Anointing our spiritual eyes.

a.    Your spiritual eyes must be supernaturally anointed by God (Rev. 3:18) and enlightened to perceive revelation and understanding.

  1. The devil had inflicted spiritual blindness (2 Cor. 4:4) and spiritual short-sightedness. We need to break these yokes over our spiritual eyes.

  1. The end time believers are specially admonished to receive the anointing of the inner eyes (Rev. 3:18) because visions and dreams are norms.

2.    Looking into the realm of the spirits world.

The spiritual eyes can gaze into the heavenly realm.  (Acts 7:55; Lk 24:31)

In the Garden of Eden before the fall, Adam and the woman communed with God. They did not speak with vocal words, they "understood," they were in total harmony with God. They had spiritual eyes. That is a fact! How do we know that? Well, let us look at Genesis 3 before the fall:

*And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, THEN YOUR EYES SHALL BE OPENED, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman SAW that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the EYES, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. (Genesis 3:4-6)

We note that the serpent said to the woman "then your eyes shall be opened." Do we conclude then that she was presently blind? No, because we read that she "saw that the tree was good for food" and "that it was pleasant to the eyes." She was obviously "seeing" with some type of vision. Let us go on to after the fall:

*And the EYES of them both WERE OPENED, and they knew.... (Genesis  3:7)

Yes they were "seeing" before the fall, but their "eyes... were opened" after the fall. What does that mean? Well, they had spiritual eyes through v.6 and communed with God. In v.7 they fell from His Holy Presence, from the Most Holy Place, from communing with God, from seeing with spiritual eyes. They were thereafter separated from God. Sin separates from God. Sin stood between God and them. Sin is a barrier between God and man. Sin is opaque. There is no light in sin. As a consequence, their spiritual eyes were cut-off, closed, darkened, and their natural eyes "were opened." Now they could only communicate with God.

THEIR EYES WERE DARKENED

The following Scriptures reach back to the woman and Adam, and forward to those "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (II Corinthians  4:4).

*Let their eyes be DARKENED that they may not see, and bow down their back away. (Romans 11:10)

*Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became VAIN in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was DARKENED. (Romans 1:21)

*Having the understanding DARKENED, being ALIENATED from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the BLINDNESS of their heart. (Ephesians 4:18)

In Luke 24:30-31 we see another example:

"And it came to pass, as he sat at meal with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened and they knew Him, and He vanished out of their sight.

Luke 24:32-35

"And they said to one to another, did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them saying, the Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. And they told what things were done in the way, and how Jesus was known of them in the breaking of bread."

Jesus broke the bread, the backs of His hands became the focal point. They saw visible the ugly, gaping holes in the backs of his hands - holes that were made by the harsh Roman spikes. With that sight in mind they saw Jesus and their hearts burned and knew Him. Their weak faith became strong again.

Their spiritual eyes were opened when they saw Jesus in the Holy Communion. All spiritual blindness and bondage had to go. The nail pierced hands gave them revelation of Jesus. Their hearts were burned as they received the revelation of Grace in Jesus broken body.

Likewise our eyes will be open to the things of God's Grace. Physical healing, miracles and deliverance will break loose. As our spiritual eyes open, we will be able to know Jesus better and acknowledge Him as God. The disciples said, "He was known to us in the breaking of bread." Friends, Holy Communion ministry is a very powerful ministry as Jesus performed it Himself with the disciples.

Bread breaking breaks blindness. We are blinded by doubts, religion and laws.
Bread breaking causes heart to burn.  We get revived, refreshed and renewed each time we come to the Table of Grace.
