GREAT
THRONES IN SCRIPTURES
Matthew
19:28 ESV
Jesus
said to them, “Truly, I say to you, in the new world, when the Son of Man will
sit on his glorious throne, you who have
followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
Jesus
was talking to his disciples concerning their work for the Kingdom of God. Today
I would like to share on the Seven Thrones in Scriptures.
1. Throne
of Pride – Satan’s
- Isaiah 14:13
How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! 13 You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon. 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High.”15 But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.
Satan wanted a throne of God but was brought down because of his pride. Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall. God hates pride – one of the 7 deadly sins of mankind. Lust, envy, anger, greed, gluttony and sloth are all bad, the sages say, but pride is the deadliest of all, the root of all evil, and the beginning of sin. Pride is self-respect and self-esteem, he says, but then warns that pride is arrogance and hubris as well.
2. Throne
of Grace – Father’s
- Hebrews
12:22-29
“…we
receiving a kingdom… let us have grace”
"Let us therefore come boldly
unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace . . .
Hebrews 4:16
The
throne of grace represents the kingdom of grace, for the existence of a throne
implies the existence of a kingdom. When Christ returned to heaven, we are told
that He sat down on the throne (Heb. 1:3; 8:1, 2). He did not sit down on the
throne of glory; He sat down on His throne of grace-His priestly throne of
Mediatorial office. The Throne of Grace is for us today to ask for pardon,
petitions in times of need that we will find mercy and grace for every daily
needs.
3. Throne
of Holiness – Jehovah’s
- Isaiah 6:1-3
In the year that King Uzziah died, I
saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe
filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphim, each with six
wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their
feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to
one another:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord
Almighty;
the whole earth is full of his glory.”
The
Throne of Holiness in Isaiah 6 - in the Old testament we see God’s prophetic
word for the whole earth. It says that
our whole earth will be full of His glory.
The whole power and presence of God and his angels are going to invade
this earth in times of Revival. God
holiness is coming upon the
Church
and His Presence will be so thick as never before. Amen!
4. Throne
of Worship – Creator’s
- Revelation
4:2-4
At once I was in the Spirit, and there
before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it. 3 And the one who
sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an
emerald encircled the throne. 4 Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other
thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white
and had crowns of gold on their heads.
Revelation
4 - provides a unique opportunity to experience a bit of heaven—and John’s
description is the tiniest glimpse of a mind-blowing reality we cannot even
begin to comprehend. John was immediately lifted to the throne of God. But he didn’t attempt to describe God
Himself. No earthly words would suffice.
Instead, He uses earthly images to paint a picture of God’s glory, with
precious jewels, rainbows, thunder, and other natural elements standing in for
God’s infinite worth, beauty, and power. The all eyes four Living Creatures
flying around.
Isaiah
40:5 says, "The glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall
see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken." NKJV
Haggai
2:9 - Christ glory is going to be greater than the former glory of Moses.
5. Throne
of Righteousness – King’s
- Matthew
25:31-33
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his
glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All
the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one
from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put
the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
Jesus
begins the parable by saying it concerns His return in glory to set up His
kingdom (Matthew 25:31). Therefore, the setting of this event is at the
beginning of the millennium, after the tribulation. All those on earth at that
time will be brought before the Lord, and He will separate them “as a shepherd
separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the
goats on his left” (verses 32–33). The sheep are those who were saved during
the tribulation; the goats are the unsaved who survived the tribulation.
6. Throne
of Judgment – Judge’s - Revelation 20:11
11 And I saw a great white throne, and
him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and
there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and
great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was
opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things
which were written in the books, according to their works.
THE
TWO JUDGMENTS
The
Great White Throne and the Judgment Seat of Christ (Bema Judgment)
2
Cor. 5:10 – “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that
each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has
done, whether good or bad.”
7. Throne
of Life – God’s & Lamb’s
- Revelation 22:1-3
22 And he shewed me a pure river of
water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the
Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it,
and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve
manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree
were for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curses:
but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall
serve him:
The
first thing we know that this River of God’s Grace is full of water. (Psalm
65:9) The River of God speaks of God’s Grace flowing. The Water of Life and Revelation flow freely
to whosoever thirst and desires of it. God brings out streams out of the Rock
(Jesus) and overflows us.
The
River of Life flows from God’s Presence (Throne room). Consistently, we see
that the River of Life flows from the very seat of God’s Presence: the place He
inhabits and reigns. When the River of Life touches you – you soak in it.
PRAYER:
Heavenly Father, thank you for the life and grace you have given us. You have saved us and made us for righteousness to serve you in your Kingdom. Help us to be humble and worship you in true holiness and purity in our spirit. May the Holy Spirit guide us, direct us, empowered us and lead us to the right path of your will and purpose in our lives. Thank you and in Jesus Name we pray.
