MERCY SEAT WORSHIPERS
THE MERCY SEAT WORSHIPERS
Our text is taken from Psalms 132:1-18 and Joshua 3:1-11
God is looking for a church that has learned how to build a mercy seat for His glory. When He finds a people that has paid the price to build Him a resting place, He will come and He will stay. That is when we will see revival that is unlike any other place we see before. This type of revival only come when God comes in His weighty glory and takes His seat of honor in His Church. We welcome God’s visitation, but our real desire and His desire are for habitation, where His presence lingers and lives with us daily.
History of the Ark of Testimony
The Ark of God started from Moses time in the wilderness to the Canaan land; from Jericho to Shiloh; and to the Philistines and back again through Bethshemesh, Kirjath-jearim and the house Obededom. During David’s time it was moved from place to place and finally to Zion at the tent in Jerusalem and in the temple of Solomon. This was the last habitation Zion – Psalms 132:13 says “The Lord had chosen Zion (represents The people of God) and had desired it for His habitation. This is my rest forever.”
The two cherubim of gold are of hammered work and they faced the two ends of the Mercy Seat. They faced toward the mercy seat and they wings covered the seat and they faced one another. Once a year the Mercy Seat was sprinkled with animal’s blood – representing the Blood of Jesus atonement. The Mercy Seat is a symbol of atonement, appeasement, meeting place of God and man. God said to Moses, “There I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy-seat.” At the Mercy seat we obtained mercy for the past, and grace for the present and future.
Psalms 22:3 says God is “enthroned upon the praise of Israel.” The Japanese Translation of the original Hebrew text for this verse “enthroned” says that our praise “builds a big chair for God to sit on.” That kind of worship will shake the earth and set captivities free! God is looking forward to it. He wants to tabernacle among us. He wants to sit among us as we sit with Him. He wants to take over so that there will be so much of God and less of man.
MERCY SEAT WORSHIPERS MUST TURN THEIR BACK ON MAN’S FACE AND SEEK GOD’S FACE.
Today’s church with so many religious duties, events, programs, etc. There is too much of man in the church and too little of God. We have pleased men so much and response to man’s approval and forget to about how to please God in worship. For mercy seat worshipers, we must turn our back on man. Seek after the face of God. Lose the fear of man and gain the fear of God. If we can be like David he fueled the Flame of God’s presence with 24 hours worship. At the recent Olympics games in Sydney – they torched on the flames until the games was over. So let the Light of His Glory shines and everybody will see the splendor and power of God penetrating into their souls.
That was why David built a tabernacle without a veil or walls so that it touched people. God wanted his people to behold His glory ... full of grace and truth.
But the O.T. Priesthood had kept His glory into the four walls of the Temple and it lost touch with the world outside. The glory of God was not unveiled in the temple for 100 years during the dark ages. Indeed it was dark. Today, church! His glory is in us do we want Him to shine like the Olympics torch and let all the nations come and see or do we want to box Him into one corner of our hearts.
MERCY SEAT WORSHIPERS MUST STAND AT THE GAP AS INTERCESSORS TODAY
Ministry of Reconciliation - The Mercy Seat where the Blood is sprinkled is the altar of God and a “warring and weeping zone ” If you’re at the Mercy seat you are as one standing in the gap for the people as intercessors. We have a ministry – that is the Ministry of reconciliation in the weeping zone. We are called to pray and intercede in worship until God and man have met together. (Loved ones and saints knowing Jesus as Savior) As I mentioned earlier, John said, “We beheld His glory … full of grace and truth.” – John 1:14b
The world needs God’s grace, but His truth and Mercy must meet it. Build a weeping mercy seat for God’s people – His saints and sinners in our cities.
Yes, every Sunday or Sabbath day we pray intercede and worship God until we break open a hole in the heavens and let God come down upon us in His Manifested glory. All satanic forces will flee in every direction. And all the “tides and hites” have to go.
Psalms 132: 15 says,“I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will clothe her priests with salvation and her saints shall shout aloud with joy. Vs. 18 His enemies will I clothe with shame but upon Himself shall his crown flourish.”
If we build God’s Mercy Seat and worship Him according to the heavenly pattern. He will come and stay and habitats in us.
